The Arrowhead Regional Development Commission has an opening for a GIS Specialist to support planning staff in its Metropolitan Interstate Council (MIC) division on a variety of agency projects (www.ardc.org/mic). This position involves data and metadata creation, collection and management, cartography and GIS support using ESRI software and use of visualization techniques in support of plans and projects. Qualified candidates will have knowledge and experience using ArcInfo, ArcView, ArcCatalog and ArcGIS Server plus GPS experience. Requires Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science or related field, 2-3 years relevant GIS experience and PC proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. A background with GIS program development and web-mapping applications using GIS software is desired. They are looking for an individual with solid communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment. The MIC is the federally designated transportation planning policy entity for the Duluth, MN and Superior, WI metropolitan area.
