POSITION SUMMARY

The Land Protection Assistant position will research land files on tracks to be transferred to conservation partners. This will include pulling and scanning deeds, title insurance policies, state & federal contracts and other information and maintaining a spreadsheet to track research progress. This position will also provide information to landowners seeking Conservancy advice about how to protect their land or land in their communities.

Duties may also include locating historic aerial photos from the State Map Library for use in environmental assessments and compiling supporting documentation for land appraisal and survey requests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Conservation Information Manager I provides technical assistance to Conservancy staff.  This may include one or more of the following functions:

  • Research land files and maintain spreadsheet to track research progress.
  • Maintains and populates data and records databases and manual files
  • Produces maps and/or other graphic products and reports
  • Develops and maintains GIS library and/or database products library

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS or Associates degree in related field and 1 year related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience maintaining and populating databases and manual files.
  • Experience producing maps and/or other graphic products and reports.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and using the Internet.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS or Associates degree in related field and 1-2 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.  This requirement may include familiarity with legal real estate documents. 
  • Performing administrative duties emphasizing detail-oriented and numerical tasks including data entry
  • Database and computer spatial or tabular based management skills including managing, maintaining and populating databases. 
  • Building, populating and producing reports from databases
  • Managing and prioritizing tasks from multiple sources
  • Working knowledge of common software applications (e.g.; Word, Access, Excel, Web browsers). 
  • Communicating clearly via written, spoken and graphical means in English and other relevant languages

  • This is a part-time position with employment dates of February 1, 2013 - December 31, 2013.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT

  • Work requires only minor physical exertion and/or physical strain. 
  • Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements.
