Surveyor Advanced – Right of Way Plat Coordinator

Description:

This is an advanced level Surveyor, lead worker position.  This position oversees all design activities involved in preparing right-of-way plats for the Region and is responsible for the design, direction, coordination, delegation of work assignments, research, training, and reviewing right-of-way activities of staff engineers, consultants under contract, engineering technicians, and the real estate unit for the development of right-of-way plats.  In addition, the person in this position will coordinate and review very complex projects, develop work schedules and prioritize plats in the six-year program,  research, assemble and interpret legal descriptions, and compute project survey coordinates.  This position will act as liaison and coordinate right-of-way activities between programmatic sections and act as Region contact person and right-of-way plat liaison in contacts with all sections of the Region, the general public, local officials, private land surveyors, and consultant engineers.

Qualifications:   

  • Fundamental knowledge of highway laws, codes standards and practices pertaining to right of way plats.
  • Registered Land Surveyor’s License and knowledge of land surveying principals and platting statutes as they relate to plat production.
  • Fundamental knowledge of highway engineering and acquisition procedures, and the ability to effectively cross-communicate between these professions
  • Knowledge of coordinate geometry commands necessary to compute right of way information.
  • Ability to use Auto CAD and Civil 3D software to develop right of way plats.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to lead other Region and consultant staff involved in right of way plat development activities.
  • Ability to develop work schedules and prioritize plats in the six-year program.
  • Ability to work with statewide user groups and pending legislation to establish minimum requirements to produce recordable right of way plats.
