Wisconsin Outline Maps for Digital Reproductions (download)
Cost: Free
Order: Download
In response to an increasing number of requests for digital outline maps, we have developed a set of maps for use on PC computers, in four popular file formats: TIFF, WMF, DXF, and CDR. These graphics are available as ZIP files. These outline maps are not directly usable in a GIS since they are not referenced to a standard ground referenced coordinate system. However, using illustration software, you can "fill" any county to illustrate a theme, add your own features or annotation, or clip out a portion of the state rather than using the entire image.

Sample maps of Wisconsin: Geology, Vegetation, Ice Age Deposits and More
Cost: $0.25-$1.50
Order: WGNGS web site
The WGNHS publishes many maps at various scales. The link above will take you to low-resolution scans of some of their page-size (8.5 x 11 inch) maps.
For example, the "Landscapes of Wisconsin" map (2004) shows the elevation of Wisconsin through the use of color and shaded relief; the relief gives the map an almost three-dimensional, textural feel by simulating the appearance of sunlight and shadow. Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey staff developed the map from available digital information about elevation derived from the U.S. Geological Survey topographic quadrangle maps.
The WGNHS also has maps that show glacial deposits, geology, bedrock, and shaded relief of Wisconsin at various scales.
