To realize the vision of a Wisconsin Geographic Information Coordination Council (WIGICC) and to help ensure its success, we would like as wide a range of people and groups as possible to tell us how WIGICC should be formed and structured. Five listening sessions were held to facilitate dialogue among stakeholders resulting in timely and useful input into the formulation of the proposed WIGICC.
As a result of examining models in many other states, the WIGICC Working Group developed criteria for development of a council and two sample models that were presented at the sessions (documents here for your review). Participants in the listening sessions were asked to provide feedback regarding the appropriateness, completeness, and priority of the criteria, as well as their ideas for a council structure to be used in Wisconsin. As a result, we hope to identify the 'best elements' of the ideas expressed that can be synthesized by the Working Group and brought forward to a “governance summit meeting,” which will formulate final recommendations this summer.
The listening sessions are now completed, though your ideas and thoughts are still appreciated. Go to Stakeholder Feedback for feedback options.
Based on feedback from many communities interested in geographic information and technologies, a WIGICC model will emerge that is inclusive, representative and participatory - a forum that meets multiple needs.

Next Steps
After the Listening Sessions, a “governance summit meeting” will be held during the summer of 2007. We hope this summit meeting will result in a consensus recommendation to the Governor for a Wisconsin Geographic Information Coordination Council, leading to an executive order for its implementation before the end of 2007.
