- Name/Version: theme_metadata.avx
- Reviewer / Date: Hugh Phillips / November 1999
- Date of last known release: 12/98
- Function: HTML/Text Metadata Display Extension for Arcview 3.x
- Background Information and Software: http://www.3001data.com/metadata/theme_metadata.html
- Platform: ESRI ArcView 3.x , a Web browser
- Principal Contact: 3001, Inc.
- Status: Available
- Metadata Storage Structure: Not applicable
- Brief Description:
- If the Theme Metadata extension has been loaded in an ArcView project, it adds a button
to ArcView's button bar when a View is active. If a theme (vector or image) is active and there is an HTML (.html or .htm) document with the same root name as the active dataset in the same directory as the dataset, then the Theme Metadata tool becomes active and the document will be displayed in a web browser when the Theme Metadata button is mashed. The HTML document associated with a theme does not necessarily have to be metadata.
- Cost: None
- Notable Plus: Does a tightly focussed job well
- Metadata Exchange: Not applicable
- Useability:
- Administrative:
- Installation merely requires that the theme_metadata.avx file be installed into ArcView's Ext32 directory to be available as an extension to all users. When the ArcView Project window is active, the extension presents a Theme Metadata menu that explains how to get it to work with datasets.
- Tool Reliability:
- No operational problems have been noted. If an active theme does not have an associated HTML document, the Theme Metadata button is inactive. If more than one theme is active, the Theme Metadata button will again be inactive.
- Sample of Interface:
