Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing operations of the GIS Professional Programs (GISPP) unit to ensure effectiveness in meeting strategic, departmental, and student development goals. Direct administrative oversight and curriculum development ensuring optimal integration of student and instructor activities. Ensure resource allocation supports the program’s primary objectives. Manage a small team of professionals who support the programs.

BACKGROUND

The UW Madison GIS Professional Programs (GISPP) is looking for an innovative, hardworking, and experienced leader who will support the continued growth of our programs through their understanding and interest in innovative forms of online GIS education. The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of the cartography and GIS industry, experience with online learning in higher education, established professional networks, and demonstrated leadership. The GIS Professional Programs Director will report directly to the Geography Department Chair and will also work closely with the GISPP Oversight Committee and the GISPP Coordinator.
