Senior Mobility Software Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Generate software tools to create and validate mobility protocol, defining functionality and performance
• Simulate radio network to evaluate mobility performance and functionality
• Refine mobility protocol within system
• Create tools to use satellite simulation results to define parameter values that are a part of the mobility protocol
• Aggregate radio network metrics and performance parameters various sources to analyze overall radio network performance
• Compare existing network performance data and simulated data to improve simulation accuracy
• Develop tools to visualize geographic performance of satellite radio network in order to validate performance and functionality of remotes
• Work with SQL, Google Earth KML, and GXT files for filtering and converting geocoded data
• Performing root cause analysis of  system level issues in the satellite radio network networks

Required

• A minimum of 8 years of C/C++ experience in the development of Unix/Linux-based tools
• Expertise in Unix/Linux scripting languages such as bash, perl, python, PHP, etc.
• GIS experience with geospatial calculations and presentation
• Google Earth KML experience for graphical information display
• MySQL database experience
• Master’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering
• Self-motivated and ability to work well in cross-functional teams
• Strong communication skills including technical documentation, written reports, development and delivery of presentations, and the ability to communicate effectively with vendors

• iDirect or similar GNMS configuration and performance data systems
• Satellite modem hardware or firmware experience
• Satellite Mobility project experience
• Linux GTK+ graphical user interface experience
• Linux Apache Tomcat web page development
• Linux kernel development
• Linux server administration
• Computer graphics algorithm experience
• Satellite GXT EIRP and G/T file format standards
