Duties & Responsibilities:
- Answer correspondence and provide information on a daily basis to the public regarding land use and zoning.
- Review zoning permit applications for ordinance conformance including checking setbacks, shore land/wetland/floodplain status, topography, parking, etc. Collect fees, issue addresses and permits.
- Review and process applications for variances, shore land contracts, non-metallic mining conditional use and rezoning requests.
- Conduct compliance checks, investigate zoning complaints and issue notices of violations and/or citations when necessary.
- Design and prepare graphic presentations for public hearings and non-metallic mining operations.
- Plot legal descriptions on topographical maps and research floodplain status to prepare requested floodplain determination letters.
- Run reproduction equipment for customer requested maps and photocopies.
- Maintain all maps and graphic and drafting equipment
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with course work in geography, cartography, physical planning, soil science, environmental sciences, or a related field; OR a high school diploma (GED) and three (3) years of related experience.
- Experience with personal computers and working knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and access to an automobile that may be used on the job.
- Prompt and regular attendance.

- Ability to write effectively and to communicate with the public.
