Job Description:
The Transit Planner I is the first level in a three level series. Position performs entry-level professional planning duties. Typical duties include maintaining ridership and schedule data, updating the database for the automated vehicle annunciator system, and conducting research used to evaluate service.
Job Duties:
- Maintain ridership and schedule data on key performance measures used to evaluate service
- Update the database of bus stop locations and audio-visual announcements for the automated vehicle annunciator system
- Prepare transit maps / related graphics for external departments and stakeholders
- Research suggestions / complaints from customers
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree in urban planning, business, public administration, geography or a related discipline and six (6) months of planning related experience involving research and analysis; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions. A Master’s Degree and/or transit planning experience is desirable.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint). Ability to use GIS software such as ArcMap as well as Adobe suite products (e.g., Illustrator) is desirable.
- Excellent research and analytical skills with the ability to write clear and concise reports.
- A self-starter with the ability to learn software applications and with excellent organizational skills.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of the MCTS system.
