Job Summary:

Shoreland is seeking talented candidates to apply for the position of malaria research assistant. The primary scope of this position involves extensive, targeted data searching and retrieval in order to obtain timely, reliable, and geographically specific information pertaining to malaria transmission in all countries where the disease is endemic. The position is located in our Milwaukee, WI office.

Responsibilities

  • Acquisition and archival of malaria-related reports and other supporting documentation
  • Review and preliminary analysis of malaria case totals, incidence rates, and population data
  • Formal presentation of research results in accordance with established formatting protocols
  • Additional opportunities to be determined based on company needs and employee capabilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in geography, health sciences, or related fields
  • Excellent proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Firsthand experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Familiarity with global geography (names/locations of countries, regions, capitals, etc.)
  • Strong detail orientation
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills

Desirable Attributes

  • GIS certification
  • Experience with Microsoft OneNote
  • Familiarity with tropical medicine, infectious diseases, occupational health, public health, or travel medicine
  • International travel experience or residence overseas
  • Literacy in one or more foreign languages

Competitive applicants will be required to complete a malaria data search and retrieval exercise to evaluate several of the qualifications listed above. We anticipate a start date rapidly upon acceptance of an offer. Persons accepting a position with Shoreland will be required to furnish proof of eligibility to legally work in the U.S. within 3 days of the start date.
