The Water Business Line of Arcadis is seeking a GIS Technician/ Coordinator in our Chicago, Illinois office to support Department of Water Management. The successful candidate must be: interested in learning from GIS Managers, able to interface/communicate with internal team members on tasks and projects, able to meet multiple and simultaneous deadlines, and able to work independently.
This GIS Coordinator will be required to assist the GIS team in maintaining DWM GIS programs. This includes troubleshooting issues, updating maps and apps, and testing the automated scripts and performing routine checks to validate the scripts are working correctly. Additionally the GIS technician will be required to work on enhancements and capabilities as new versions of the software or new requirements from the users arise. Qualifications for this position would be an entry to mid-range level GIS technician.
The daily duties of this GIS Coordinator would include:
- Meeting with users to address Issues and discuss any new enhancements to the apps
- Documenting user needs for next generation apps
- Updating documentation and training materials
- Acting as troubleshooter and GIS Help Desk support
- Performing minor GIS changes and enhancements to the apps as needed
- Organizing and managing ArcGIS Online and Portal accounts and groups
- Providing support to GIS Team in development and testing of new apps and functionality
- Working with GIS Team to develop and maintain metrics for Operational Dashboards
- Assist with project status tracking in Microsoft Excel, , and Microsoft Access database
- Utilize Microsoft Excel or Access or ESRI ArcGIS based
- Utilize City of Chicago and CTR data systems including; CSR, DataStream, PCS and ArcGIS
- Develop Water Quality and other reports
- Organize and maintain historical information
- Interface with various CTR groups as well as DWM
- Support BOD Services
- Support of Mobile Apps
Required Qualifications
- Degree in GIS, Engineering or equivalent
- Proficiency with ArcGIS and Microsoft tools, including MSWord, Outlook, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent teamwork, coordination and collaboration skills
- Ability to respond proactively in a high-paced environment and willingness to adjust and respond effectively to changes
- Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines set by the program leadership team
- Self-motivated and high sense of urgency; have ability to meet deadlines.
