Civil Engineering Technician

Job Description:

This position will be responsible for supporting all aspects related to 3D modeling and GPS Grade Control activities for the division including traveling to project sites throughout the State of Wisconsin.

Duties:

• Review and understand construction highway plan sets.
• Perform project take-offs and build project models using computer software such as: CAD, Trimble Business Center or GIS.
• Transfer design data to grade control equipment and data collectors.
• Collect grade points, utilities and other infrastructure data using GPS survey and/or mapping grade equipment.
• Perform analysis of the project quantities based on the project models and data collected in the field.
• Install, maintain, and calibrate project sites using GPS survey and/or grade control equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot system.
• Other duties assigned.

Qualifications:

Candidates with experience working for or supporting a civil or highway construction contractor and a secondary education degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Technician, or Surveying is preferred. Experience as an AutoCAD drafter related to heavy civil construction is desired, but not required. Candidates must be able to support multiple projects at one time and handle tight deadlines. Qualified candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
