Job Summary:
The Village of Schaumburg invites online applications for an Intern – GIS (Engineering & Public Works) part time with an online application deadline of 01/14/2018 or until 75 applicants have successfully completed the application process. Position is part-time based on an 18 hour work week between the hours of 8a – 4p, Monday through Friday. The position will start at the beginning of May 2018 and continue through the end of April 2019.
Job Duties:
Completes assignments related to GIS including creating, editings, and updating features in geodatabases and creation of map exhibits for various divisions within Engineering & Public Works. Assists Engineering Services Division in new or ongoing GIS projects as directed by the Engineering Division Manager and/or Senior Civil Engineer. Assists in data collection and updates utilizing Trimble GPS devices and iPads through ArcGIS Online. Manages the research and implementation of various infrastructure studies directed by the Engineering Division Manager and/or Senior Civil Engineer, including, but not limited to, evaluating the condition of village utilities, such as storm sewers, to determine their conditions and remedial action plan necessary to correct any deficiencies discovered. Scans and files maps, plats, legal documents, and engineering plans. Assists in providing public relations services for various capital improvement projects. Performs other duties as assigned.
