Geospatial Analyst

Duties:

• Collects, analyzes and interprets geospatial information from various data sources and provides planning related to FEMA hazard mitigation planning and Flood Insurance Rate Map development
• Develops database infrastructures and programs, estimating economic impact from hazards and action plan
• Reviews and prepares maps and other spatial data as needed
• Works with staff to provide technical support for water qualify and flood control projects
• Designs and creates geodatabases, develops tools for mapping procedures and uploads completed databases to FEMA
• Develops elevation datasets
• Creates and updates hazard mitigation plans for communities
• Conducts flood plain mapping production and maintenance as needed
• Processes geospatial data and map requests for internal and external use
• Performs quality checks for accuracy and function
• Compiles, interprets and maintains geographic data from various sources
• Performs complex queries, commands, digitizing and spatial analyses

Qualifications:

• Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geography, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Geographical Information Systems, or a closely related field
• Three years of experience in data base management, GIS, systems design or programming; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
