Duties:
- Collects, analyzes and interprets geospatial information from various data sources and provides planning related to FEMA hazard mitigation planning and Flood Insurance Rate Map development
- Develops database infrastructures and programs, estimating economic impact from hazards and action plan
- Reviews and prepares maps and other spatial data as needed
- Works with staff to provide technical support for water qualify and flood control projects
- Designs and creates geodatabases, develops tools for mapping procedures and uploads completed databases to FEMA
- Develops elevation datasets
- Creates and updates hazard mitigation plans for communities
- Conducts flood plain mapping production and maintenance as needed
- Processes geospatial data and map requests for internal and external use
- Performs quality checks for accuracy and function
- Compiles, interprets and maintains geographic data from various sources
- Performs complex queries, commands, digitizing and spatial analyses
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geography, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Geographical Information Systems, or a closely related field
- Three years of experience in data base management, GIS, systems design or programming; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
