Job Summary & Duties:
The Groundwork GIS Intern will collaborate with Groundwork’s GIS Program Manager to oversee ongoing GIS data collection, analysis and programming. The intern’s primary role will be orchestrating property survey outings for the Brew City Match – a partnership with the Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC) that seeks to fill empty store fronts in struggling business districts with local entrepreneurs by providing them with strategic advice and accessible financing. There may also be opportunities to conduct garden inventories, produce and publish online maps, and facilitate community asset mapping exercises.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have experience or interest in:
- Collecting and visualizing data using Loveland Technologies platform for the Brew City Match
- Providing technical training and professional development skills to teenage workers
- Developing and implementing mobile survey tools for data collection in the field
- Maintaining rigorous data management methods with built in quality assurance measures
- Executing detailed inventory for Groundworks gardens
- Assisting with community health asset mapping exercises around Milwaukee
- Researching historical MPROP parcel data and other property resources
- Using Mapillary imagery to create interactive virtual tours of Groundwork gardens
- The following software: ArcMap, ArcOnline, Mapillary, Loveland, Excel, Google Suite
