Job Summary:
As a GIS Support Specialist, you will support the design, development, and maintenance of complex Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications and perform research and analysis using GIS tools for the Metropolitan District of the Department of Transportation. Qualifications:
Required
- This position requires a minimum of two (2) years of GIS support experience with ESRI desktop software ArcGIS (ArcMAP and ArcCatalog).
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related substitutes for two years of experience, OR a related Associate’s substitutes for one year.
- Successful candidate must pass past-employer reference checks and a criminal history verification
Preferred
- A four (4) year degree in Geography or closely related field, where GIS technology has been a key component to the curriculum.
- Two (2) years of GIS technical analysis and development experience. Experience must be within the last 5 years. Experience to include any of the following:
- Thorough working knowledge of the Python programming language in an ArcGIS environment;
- Experience with SQL language in an Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL server environment;
- Experience with MapServer;
- Experience with GeoMoose;
- Experience with Oracle or PostGIS Spatial functions and operators;
- Web development using JavaScript;
- Web development using ASP.NET or JavaScript;
- Any application platform system administration.
