Technician

Job Summary:

This position works as part of a design team performing computer aided drafting and design on projects. Occasional assignments in the field for construction observation and/or surveying is likely. The drafting and design will be based on preliminary and detail designs from other members of the design team. Duties:

• Perform technician work under general supervision in a project team environment.
• Work from detailed, but not “to scale” sketches.
• Accurately draft information from various sources.
• Be proficient using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Experience with 2018 preferred.
• Prepare quantity computations and cost estimates.
• Manage personal work activities and project team responsibilities and report to supervisor on status of workload.
• Learn and keep abreast of the latest design standards and procedures.
• Conform to SEH standards of quality both technical and graphic.
• Commitment to continuous improvement activities.
• Work effectively in an empowered team environment.
• Be able to understand and follow directions with only general guidance.
• Communicate well with coworkers.
• Assist field personnel in construction observation and surveying.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Training or experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D software is required.
• Must have a basic understanding of geometry, trigonometry and computer applications.
• Experience in construction observation, surveying, and/or GIS applications is a plus.
• Must to be able to walk and climb over rough construction terrain as required for on-site review of project conditions, or when assistant survey crews.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Personal transportation and a valid drivers license.
