Job Summary:
This position will provide assistance and expertise in the maintenance and use of the Wisconsin Information System for Local Roads (WISLR) database for 100,000 miles of local roads. The primary focus of this position is to provide GIS support for WISLR’s Location Control Manager (LCM) annual mileage certification process. WISLR data contributes to the distribution of approximately $400+ million in general transportation aids to approximately 1923 local units of government.
Qualifications:
A qualified candidate will have both:
- Experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to edit spatial and attribute data.
- Training or experience interpreting legal descriptions/documentation (i.e. Public Land Survey System [PLSS], annexation descriptions, Certified Survey Maps [CSM], subdivision plans, or construction plans) to translate into line work and polygons.
A well-qualified candidate will have training and/or experience in at least one of the following:
- Training using ESRI ArcGIS or ArcPro software tools
- Training or experience with the linear reference system and methods
- Experience using the Public Land Survey System
