Job Summary:
Shawano Municipal Utilities (SMU), a municipal electric utility serving 5,700 meters in the City of Shawano (pop. 9,305) and surrounding townships, seeks an experienced GIS Analyst to oversee the creation and manage the future development and maintenance of a municipal enterprise GIS, supporting the geospatial and asset management needs of all SMU and City of Shawano departments.
Duties:
The GIS Analyst will be the GIS subject matter expert and a key member of the Utility and City technical support team. The incumbent will work in an open, flexible environment with full access to an ESRI Small Government Enterprise Agreement and adequate budget for hardware and technical services. This position offers the opportunity for pride of ownership in an enterprise GIS created largely from scratch.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Engineering, Surveying, Computer Science, Urban Planning or a related field of study; GISP or other industry certification; two years’ experience performing high level GIS technical duties on an ESRI platform in a utility or local government environment; and, will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work with and meet the needs of others while working independently, driven by attention to detail and satisfaction in producing highly accurate and highly functional GIS maps and data sets.
