GIS Intern

Job Summary:

SRF Consulting Group, Inc. is seeking applicants for an internship position in our GIS Department. Our GIS Department is responsible for providing GIS services including mapping, spatial analysis, web applications for corridor studies, sub-area studies, traffic impact studies, freeway modeling, forecasting, safety analysis, watershed analysis, and pedestrian networks for internal and external clients.

We are looking for full-time work schedule during the 2019 summer months and a part-time schedule (on-site) during the school year. This internship is a great opportunity to earn money while developing valuable skills and gaining practical resume experience to build your career.  Looking ahead to the future?  SRF Consulting Group will consider the intern worker for full time employment after graduation.

Duties:

• Providing support in organizing and developing technical information
• Conducting technical analysis using different datasets and creation of cartographic products.
• Developing documentation to support analysis work

Qualifications:

• Current enrollment in a Geographic Information Systems/Science undergraduate or master’s degree program.
• General understanding of GIS and geographic knowledge is needed.
• Familiarity with standard cartographic methods, theories and principles.
• Experience or willingness to learn Python, Model Builder or another common GIS scripting language is desirable, as job duties will include creating scripts to streamline frequently performed tasks.
• Ability to independently manage multiple assignments, determine and set job task priorities.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
