Position Description:
This position will participate in the development of a statewide parcel and Public Land Survey System GIS database.
List of Duties
- 70% GIS database development, including data and metadata assessment, data processing using custom tools and scripts, and quality assurance.
- 10% Documentation, maintenance of website content, and updating of feedback reports.
- 10% Presentations, external meetings, workshops/training sessions, and travel.
- 10% Work with other project team members to develop, implement and maintain a project plan.Note: In-state travel with some overnight stays may be required.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Geography or closely-related field required, including relevant coursework in GIS. Work experience in GIS may be substituted for coursework in some cases.
Experience:
This position will work closely with other team members, including staff and students, to develop high-quality statewide parcel and Public Land Survey System GIS databases for the state. Minimum one year hands-on experience with GIS data development project(s), including use of Esri software suite. Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills, and be able to function effectively in a team environment. Ideal candidate will have experience with scripting, process modeling, web-based mapping, large datasets, and spatial databases. Ideal candidate will have some knowledge of parcel and address data models, and the Public Land Survey System.
