Description
Are you a technology professional seeking a part-time position in a fast-paced, dynamic and progressive municipal information technology department? The City of St. Charles offers a challenging and supportive work environment that fosters excellence, accountability, learning, and professional development. This position assists in the daily operation of the City’s Geographic Information System (GIS). This includes assisting in maintaining geospatial databases and participating in the collection and processing of geospatial data using Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment and other methods. This position produces maps, atlases and reports for presentations, interactive map applications, field work, quality control, and assists in the maintenance and quality control of the City’s planimetric, base data, and utility information.
Qualifications
This position requires an Associate’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Planning, or a closely related field and one to three years of experience working with a Geographical Information System and the maintenance of GIS information. Experience with ArcGIS software suite and extensions; GPS equipment and collection techniques; and GIS editing functions and geoprocessing are also required.
This position entails moderate physical activity, which requires the ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and handle 100 pounds of pull force from the waist level. May work under varying environmental conditions outdoors, which may include extreme weather conditions, and exposure to a variety of grades and elevations.
Employment is contingent upon passing a background investigation, and post offer drug screen, medical exam, and functional capacity evaluation.
