Position Summary
This position performs GIS analysis and data preparation for wetland mapping. The Wisconsin Wetland Inventory is an important tool for stakeholders to identify wetlands on their property. The Wisconsin Wetland Inventory is a GIS-based mapping system that uses LIDAR, DEM, aerial imagery and other data to develop wetland maps. This position will help prepare this data for interpretation and mapping. Additionally, this position will implement standard operating procedures to help develop these important mapping resources for the citizens of Wisconsin.
70% – Wisconsin wetland inventory mapping
- Use standard operating procedures to prepare LIDAR and DEM data for mapping
- Use approved methods to prepare hydrogeology information for mapping
- Data processing as assigned
10% – Classify wetlands in the inventory
- Use National Wetland Inventory (NWI) classifications to label wetland mapping features
- Work with FWS to gather feedback on draft mapping products
10% – Provide quality assurance and input on standard operating procedures
- Work with wetland mapping coordinator and team to refine and update standard operating procedures as appropriate
- Review team outputs as assigned by the wetland mapping coordinator
10% – Other duties as assigned
- Database management and organization
Qualifications
Required:
- Extensive GIS experience
- DEM processing experience
- LIDAR processing experience
Preferred:
- Understanding of National Wetland Inventory classification
