The PMC is seeking a mapping professional or student with experience in geography and demography and knowledge (or willingness to learn) about redistricting. For the months of August, September, and October, this student mapper will assist the commission in preparing its Congressional, Senate, and Assembly maps for Wisconsin. This will require the use of software such as the redistricting plugin for QGIS and/or Districtr.org (a GIS-lite package engineered for redistricting). The student will attend public hearings around Wisconsin (either virtually or in person) and will work with Commissioners one-on-one and in small groups to adjust starting maps and create final ones. The pay is hourly and the hours are flexible, with pay likely totaling roughly $6000 over the three months.

For questions about the nature of the work, contact Moon Duchin at the MGGG Redistricting Lab at Tufts University.  To apply, send your resume to Jacob Idlas.
