Mike Hasinoff

Mike earned his MS in Cartography and GIS from UW–Madison in December 2022. Before becoming a stay‑at‑home dad and diving into grad school, he had an earlier chapter that included teaching English in Japan, teaching high school science, and working as a technician in genetics and biochemistry labs. At SCO, Mike has contributed to a range of projects—everything from developing a statewide atlas to tracking down forgotten unincorporated communities to digging into all sorts of tree‑related work. More recently, he’s been offering introductory GIS and data‑collection workshops for both academic and non‑academic groups. Outside of work, Mike likes to hike, bike, and paddleboard with friends, family, and his dog. In the winter, you’ll find him skiing or cheering on the Edmonton Oilers, even if they still haven’t managed to grab Lord Stanley’s Cup. Maybe this is the year.
