Guidewire is searching for a unique individual who is ambitious, curious, and hungry for a rare chance to transform a 500-year-old industry from the inside out. Through our data listening capabilities, we collect more data (and more important data) than any other company in our market. We seek ways to make sense of it, showcase it geospatially, and transform it into insight that feeds billions of decision points every year across pricing, portfolio management, underwriting, claims management, and risk transfer.

HazardHub, part of the Guidewire Live set of analytics capabilities, matches top-notch GIS technology with the fastest and most scalable delivery mechanisms. We’re looking to add to our cutting-edge team to help deliver better, newer, and more robust datasets that help solve increasingly complex customer problems. We believe we have the best and most cost-effective property & casualty data solution in the world, and that the majority of the participants in our industry will be using it within 5 years. (Our growth trajectory supports this belief). To fuel it, we are looking for relentlessly curious and motivated people to help us achieve our ambitious goals.

What will I be doing?
Guidewire is offering a 3-month internship in the geospatial team. The internship is designed to give an opportunity to work in a real-world business environment, and to take responsibility for a specific data project that has the potential to provide real value to our customers.

You will be hunting down, wrangling, and testing data sets that have the potential to be valuable in the $2 trillion Property & Casualty insurance industry for pricing, underwriting, predictive modeling, or risk selection. Examples of data sets that you might be looking at would be weather, earthquake, wildfire, hurricane, hydrological, geotechnical, crime, demographics, and points of interest.

You will be mentored by experienced GIS experts, data scientists and data engineers, and exposed to advanced geospatial techniques and data management approaches.
