MMSD is seeking qualified candidates for the position of CAD Specialist in the Technical Services Division.  Reporting to the Virtual Design Supervisor, you will maintain engineering records and data to fulfill requests in compliance with computer-aided design (CAD) standards.  You will also review engineering contract deliverables, develop in-house contract drawings and 2D/3D designs, provide facility information to internal and external stakeholders, and assess Diggers Hotline tickets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process Diggers Hotline ticket requests in accordance with established procedures.  Analyze, research, and determine a need for a field locate of MMSD assets.
  • Complete CAD drawings and designs as assigned to support various MMSD projects.
  • Review CAD deliverables from designers/consultants for compliance with MMSD CAD standards.
  • Assist in the retrieval of MMSD records and fulfill requests for stakeholders.
  • Maintain MMSD static and electronic records and drawings.
  • Serve as the CAD technical resource for MMSD staff.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in civil engineering technology, CAD, or a related field.
  • One year of job-related experience (advanced education degrees will be considered in lieu of experience).
  • Proficiency in interpreting utility record drawings, sketches, and supporting engineering documents.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in design for industry standards such as architecture, mechanical, electrical, and structural drawings.
  • Knowledge of sewer and watercourse systems, real estate easements, and plant facility locations.
  • Computer software proficiency, including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, geographic information system (GIS), and document management systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • This work requires occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
  • Work regularly requires sitting, speaking, hearing, using hands, reaching, and repetitive motions.  Work occasionally requires kneeling or crawling.

Sensory Requirements:

  • Work has standard vision requirements.  Vocal communication is required for expressing ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
  • Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, use of measuring devices, and observing general surroundings and activities.

Environmental Exposures:

  • Work has no exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Work is generally in a moderately noisy location.
