FUNCTION:  Maintain, organize, and develop essential land records and other related GIS data for Waushara County. Develop online mapping applications and workflows within the county.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Maintain and develop the county’s Geographic Information System (GIS) datasets, mapping applications, and projects.
  2. Responsible for the management of the ArcGIS Online assets.
  3. Provides support and training for geographic information system users.
  4. Preparation of parcel property maps that refer boundaries to the public land survey system and are suitable for use by local governmental units for accurate tax parcel boundary line or land survey line information and are suitable for use by local governmental units for planning purposes.
  5. Working knowledge of Trimble GPS, plotters, computers, and Esri products.
  6. Prepares GIS based maps in response to internal and external requests.
  7. Further duties within the purview of the position that may be assigned.
WORKING ELEMENTS:
A.   Education, Training and Experience
  • GIS Professional certificate or Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, GIS or related field. One to three years of experience, including Esri ArcGIS products.
B.   Knowledge, Ability and Skills
  • Excellent data entry skills.  Knowledge of ArcGIS, plotters, Windows, GIS related programs.
  • Working knowledge of computer programming languages related to GIS
  • Knowledge of land descriptions, tax parcel mapping and office procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills to serve and assist the public and public employees, abstractors, attorneys, assessors, surveyors, and government officials.
  • Ability to use computer for data entry, word processing, spreadsheets, calculator, copy machine, fax machine, telephone, and similar office equipment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with government officials and staff, supervisors, subordinates, and the general public.
  • Meticulous to detail and procedure for maintaining data.
C.   Responsibility and Authority
  • There are no supervisory duties associated with this position.
  • Responsible for regular attendance.
  • Responsible to accept responsibility and exercise independent judgment.
  • Promote, get along, and work in a harmonious relationship with others including but not limited to outside agencies and other County departments.
  • Able to perform duties, follow policy and procedures independent of direct supervision.
D.   Working Conditions
        Normal office conditions. Position is primarily sedentary. Exposure to VDT screens. Includes sitting,
        walking, standing, bending, minimal lifting, communication with public, hand & finger dexterity.
