UW-Discovery Farms Data Collection and Analysis Specialist

This position will collect information on water quality, generation of nutrient and sediment loads, farmconservation and management practices on individual Discovery Farms. The Specialist will work withthe farm cooperators on the collection of yield and cropping information, data on the implementationof nutrient management and soil conservation plans and general farm management information. TheSpecialist will enter this information into electronic media in order to maintain this informationpermanently in a format that can be quickly accessed and evaluated. The Specialist will provideinformation to the staff of the Discovery Farms Program to assist with the design, implementation andtrouble shooting associated with introduced BMP practices. It is anticipated that data managementwill make up 60% of the position duties; writing 25% and geographic information systems 15%.
