An enthusiastic limited term employee is needed to conduct baseline aquatic plant surveys on lakes statewide, June through August.
Duties include:
-Conducting field work (requires weekly and overnight travel, ability to operate and trailer small boats), sample plants repeatedly using rake and handheld GPS unit to navigate to sites, identify aquatic plants (70%).
-Preparing field equipment and organizing field data sheets (10%).
-Conducting lab work to identify aquatic plants and voucher specimens (10%).
-Entering data (10%).
Knowledge Required:
Good organizational skills and ability to work independently. Must be able to work long hours independently in the field, sometimes under adverse conditions. Must have valid drivers license. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and use of email. Familiarity with ArcView and GPS navigational tools helpful, but not necessary. Plant identification skills helpful.
