GIS Software Consultant
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
The GIS Software Consultant will have the following roles and responsibilities:
- Setup and deploy GIS and Asset Management software for utility and municipal government clients
- Provide outstanding customer service to our clients
- Conduct project workshops and training sessions
- Develop work process documentation and other types of project documentation as needed throughout all phases of the project
Required Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
The GIS Software Consultant must have the following experience, skills and knowledge:
- Excellent professional and organization skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good problem solving skills
- Excellent time management skills including ability to muli-task on various projects and priorities under fixed schedule
- Ability to travel about 25% of the time Preferred
Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
It is advantageous for the applicant to have the following professional experience, skills and knowledge:
- Experience using ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, and/or ArcSDE, as well as experience installing and administering these systems
- Experience with one or more Utility Asset Management systems such as Cityworks, SAP, GBA/Lucity, Maximo, DataStream
- Familiar with the work processes of electric, gas, water and wastewater utilities and public works departments and the ability to document processes using Microsoft Visio and/or Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect
- Project implementation lifecycle experience (Requirements, Design, Development, Testing, Training, Deployment)Familiar with software development methodologies (RUP, Agile, Waterfall)
- Ability to develop software using Visual Studio, .NET, Silverlight, Java, JavaScript and other typical software development tools
- Familiar with project management software including Microsoft Project
- Systems architecture experience, including design, planning and implementation
- Experience integrating GIS with Asset Management Systems, Customer Information Systems, Accounting Systems and Permitting Systems
- Experience with SQL Server and Oracle including installation, configuration, creating database reports and writing database update scripts
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in GIS, Geography, Information Systems, Computer Science or other technical degree.
