Job Description
This position involves technical support of a growing GIS consulting firm in centralIllinois. Primary responsibilities will include GPS field data collection, map creation, and databasemanagement, for various GIS / mapping projects throughout the state. Expect a significant amount ofhands‐on use of GPS equipment for data collection and training. Look for opportunities to grow and be a part of a team.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Strong technical skills in working with computers and GPS equipment
- Experience in using GPS equipment for GIS data collection
- Experience in working with GIS software and spatial databases
- Excellent computer skills and the ability to maintain and organize spatial databases
- Must have a good understating of cartographic principles and modern mapping techniques
- Must be able to create and maintain maps and data layers
- Must work with clients on training of equipment, hardware, & software
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey GIS/spatial information to non‐GIS/nontechnicalaudiences
- Travel throughout Illinois including frequent overnight stays during the week
