Applied Ecological Services, Inc., a leader in innovative ecological solutions to land use restoration, design and planning, has an immediate opening for a Remote Sensing Analyst/Manager – Environmental Specialist in its Brodhead, WI office.
Job Duties:
Ability to independently research, develop, and apply Remote Sensing techniques, procedures, and criteria to
meet project goals. Use environmental background to determine appropriate data and analysis to innovate
new spatial analysis methods. Manage remote sensing workloads and project implementation.
Skill Requirements:
Strong candidates would have:
- Ability to analyze data acquired via aircraft or satellite using statistical, image analysis, and GIS software for environmental/land management purposes
- Expertise in Remote Sensing applications using ERDAS Imagine and/or other (ENVI, eCognition)image analysis and processing software
- Expertise in GIS applications using ArcGIS Software (Spatial Analyst, 3d Analyst, Model Builder, and Geoprocessing functions)
- Experience applying geospatial statistical analysis to feature mapping
- Ability to participate in rigorous field work
- Applied experience evaluating and mapping vegetation and ecological features, characteristics, and trends
- Experience working with and processing large, memory-intense digital files
- Experience working with LiDAR
Programming and experience working with Python is a plus.
Experience associated with business development, project management and client/staff management is preferred.
Education and Experience:
MS degree or higher in Remote Sensing with environmental or natural resource background; 5-10 years related experience required.
