Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required
- GIS Certification preferred
- Minimum two years experience in surveying, title examination and property assessment desired. Successful candidate must have GIS skills.
- Ability to understand Wisconsin Statutes pertaining to real estate assessment, taxation, surveying, highways, and document recording.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate ownership and description information for all parcels of real property in Wood County, per Chapter 70.09 of Wisconsin Statutes.
- Responsible for the maintenance of Wood County Property Database, updating new owners, addresses, parcel numbers, legal descriptions, assessment information, acreage, surveys and platting information.
- Coordinate and facilitate the assessment process with assessors, municipal clerks and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.
- Prepare work rolls for assessors and assessment rolls for municipal clerks.
- Maintain plat maps for County using Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping.
- Interpret “questionable conveyances” and determine whether the document or the language within the document is adequate to convey property and alter Treasurer’s records.
- Contact attorneys, title companies, surveyors, developers and other land professionals about errors in recorded documents and suggest possible remedies.
- Review preliminary subdivision and condominium plats and certified surveys for accuracy, content and proper requirements for recording purposes.
