The Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey (WGNHS) develops, maintains and distributes information related to geology, groundwater, and other aspects of the natural history and natural resources of Wisconsin. This student‐hourly position will involve editing and analyzing GIS data to support an effort to map the depth to bedrock in the Kickapoo River Valley in Crawford, Monroe, Richland, and Vernon Counties in Wisconsin. Primary responsibilities will include data‐entry and spatial editing of subsurface geologic records (water well construction records, mineral exploration borehole records, etc.) in a Microsoft Access/ESRI geodatabase environment, and interpolation and contouring of geologic surfaces in ArcGIS Desktop.

The successful candidate will be detail‐oriented, have some familiarity with editing data in ArcGIS, an interest in geology or natural resources, and a possess minimum of two years undergraduate education in geography or the natural sciences with some GIS coursework.

Work will take place at the WGNHS office, with at least 8 hours/week during the school year (flexible
schedule) and up to 40 hours per week during the summer. Rate of pay for this student hourly position is $12 per hour.
