Job Summary:

Performs Geographic Information Systems work associated with non-point source pollution control projects, inventories, programs and planning.  Primary responsibility involves supporting the technical GIS needs of the Land and Water Conservation Department along with engineering design and construction supervision of conservation practices.  Position includes fieldwork and onsite inventories of farms and other properties within Waupaca County.

 

EducationExperience:

Education: High school diploma or GED; Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in GIS or GIS related field.  

Experience:

 

  • Two years experience working with ESRI ArcGIS products.
  • Basic knowledge of GPS data collection techniques.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex GIS concepts.
  • Familiar with engineering surveys, sophisticated animal waste management systems and erosion control practices.

 

Essential Duties:

 

  • Input department related data into County’s Geographic Information System/Land Records System (GIS/LRSYS) using various ESRI mapping and data management software.
  • Design and develop Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDT) compliant metadata for each database that is created for the department.
  • Provide GPS software/hardware support for the dept.
  • Generate maps, statistics, and reports using the County’s GIS/LRSYS for the dept.
  • Apply GIS tools and techniques to augment department business functions.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the Land Information Department on GIS related projects.
