MMSD presently maintains over 60,000 engineering drawings in OnBase (Electronic Document Management System). This position will assist with making available Plant, Conveyance, and Real Estate drawings through MMSD’s OnBase system. Along these lines, MMSD is implementing an ArcGIS Online subscription as part of the Esri ArcGIS 10.1 software system update. This position will benefit MMSD by organizing GIS data and maps for the migration.
Candidate may scan, import, analyze, and assign attribute information to static engineering drawings and documents in OnBase and/or SharePoint. The Candidate will also be responsible for authoring and preparing GIS data templates, symbology, typography, metadata, and dataset organization for MMSD’s AGOL account.
Student will gain professional experience in a public state chartered agency, with specific networking opportunities with MMSD Information Technology, GIS, Records, and Engineering professionals. Student will become fluent in electronic document management (OnBase) and collaboration software (SharePoint). Student will also become familiar with interpreting engineering drawings and related documents. Additionally, the Candidate will become familiar with MMSD GIS datasets, local government datasets and map services; gain valuable hands-on experience using the most current Esri ArcGIS software; collaborate with GIS professionals; and acquire skills sets to develop GIS for multiple system platforms: desktops, web browsers, and mobile devices.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: At least two years of college experience with a minimum of two GIS classes desirable. Basic computer, email and office equipment skills.
