Principle Duties
Duties include a strong program of research and publication in GIScience, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, and actively contributiing to our undergraduate and graduate programs in Cartography and GIS (including the GIS certificate). Teaching requirements include an introductory survey course in GIScience and courses in web-enabled geospatial database development and programming and other courses tailored to the background and interests of the appointee. An ongoing research program is required, including supervision of graduate students. Position requires professional and community service.
Additional Information
Ph.D. is required prior to start of appointment. Preference will be given to applicants broadly trained in the area of spatial analysis and related emerging technologies. Possible research areas include, but are not limited to, big data analytics, high-performance/distributed/cloud computing, mobile computing/location-based services, data mining/knowledge discovery, cyber-based geospatial analysis and modeling, and crowdsourcing/citizen science/VGI.
