Mid-level GIS Analyst for support provided by SRA International, Inc. staff at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Mid-Continent Ecology Laboratory in Duluth, MN. Possesses and applies knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of watershed ecology/natural resource management and GIS in the completion of diversely complex assignments. Uses various GIS software (primarily esri), as well as various geographic data formats and standard data conversion and transformation methods, for geographic analysis. Regularly exercises creativity and judgment in interpreting and solving complex problems. Must be able to effectively and persuasively express ideas both verbally and in writing.

Required skills
• Expert knowledge of GIS software (primarily esri) including ArcGIS for Desktop (3D Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst, and Spatial Analyst extensions) and ArcGIS for Server
• General knowledge of biological, hydrogeomorphic, and hydrological processes related to lakes, streams, and rivers
• Experience with terrain modeling and hydrologic modeling of surface water networks using GIS data and techniques
• Experience with geoprocessing techniques for environmental landscape analysis
• Ability to effectively summarize complex GIS analyses in written reports
• Experience with FGDC metadata requirements and ability to generate, edit, and update FGDC metadata for GIS layers
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

Desired skills
• Experience in remote sensing data acquisition and analysis
• Working knowledge of programming languages for geographic analysis and/or web map creation (i.e. Python, Visual Basic, JavaScript, ActionScript)

Years of Experience
Three (3) to five (5) years specialized experience in interactive GIS data processing and data management is required.

Education
Four-year degree (BS/BA) required, preferably in environmental or natural sciences (ecology, biology), natural resources (hydrology, geology, forestry, fish/wildlife), geography, computer science, or engineering.
