Responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and maintenance of the City-wide Geographic Information Systems. Conducts research, gathers data, and analyzes complex data to provide accurate, reliable, and critical GIS information to City departments. Manipulates digital geographic data in support of database and map production tasks. Supports user needs through existing GIS tools/application and develops new GIS tools/applications.
Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, GIS, Surveying, or a related field. Minimum of three (3) years of progressive professional GIS experience. Thorough knowledge of computerized mapping and GIS equipment and software. GIS Professional Certification is preferred. Experience with ArcSDE Administration and Implementation; ArcGIS Server Installation and Implementation; computer programming experience in SQL, VB.NET, Python, HTML, ESRI Web API’s, including Javascript, Flex or Silverlight; experience with basic web development and Windows IIS; software experience, including AutoCAD, Microstation, ESRI ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server; experience with GPS data collection devices. Must be proficient with all Microsoft Office products.
Proven analytical and project management expertise and experience in the Public Land Survey System and/or general surveying knowledge is preferred. Aptitude and/or experience in electronic document management systems; strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills; and strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
