Under general supervision of the Deputy Chief Information Officer, the GIS Section Chief has overall operational management responsibility for the DNR GIS Section. The position works collaboratively to implement and maintain core services by administering personnel and budget resources, and by developing, directing, coaching, mentoring, and supervising staff. The Section Chief participates in strategic planning with the BTS management team and DNR program IT staff, and ensures that the section delivers efficient, effective and customer-oriented services to the organization.
The GIS Section provides GIS services to the agency, enterprise and state organizations and entities engaged in providing geographical information to staff and citizens. Program functions within the section include providing a full range of core GIS infrastructure services on which the Department’s GIS applications are built.
