Position Description:
The Wisconsin Traffic Operations and Safety Laboratory (TOPS Lab), part of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Transportation Systems Engineer. This position is an excellent opportunity for technical growth and project management responsibilities, while researching and developing state-of-the-art techniques to improve transportation systems operations throughout the region. The position is part of the TOPS Lab TSM&O Program, and reports to the TOPS Lab TSM&O Program Manager.
Degree and area of specialization:
Required M.S. in engineering, preferably civil or transportation, or closely related systems engineering discipline. Professional engineer licensure desired.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum of 2 years of professional (non-school) experience desired. The candidate must have sufficient technical background, through a combination of education and work experience, to understand complex transportation issues in engineering, research, systems development, and data science.
