GIS Intern

Possible Job Duties:

• Assist with an audit of land areas that have paid/not paid connection charges.
• Assist with research of past information and transform the information into electronic mapping.
• Assist in documenting the results of the paid-area audit.
• Assist with transmitting the results and electronic files associated with the paid area audit to District customers.
• Assist in scanning, naming and electronic filing of record documents.
• Assist with organization of scanned record documents electronically.
• Assist with other GIS initiatives as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:

• Two (2) or more years of post-high school studies in environmental sciences, engineering, geography/cartography/mapping, surveying, or related field, from an accredited college or university.
• Experience with CAD/GIS systems (ESRI/ArcView, Geomedia, AutoCAD).
• Ability to evaluate/research records and transform records into electronic mapping.
• Ability to efficiently use a computer workstation and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Outlook).
• Ability to read and understand land-related legal descriptions and documents.
• Ability to interpret engineering plans, Certified Survey Maps and other technical documents.
• Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work in a detail-oriented environment to produce accurate records.
• Familiarity with standard engineering nomenclature, principals, and techniques.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical information in written form and in direct verbal conversations with District staff.
• Ability to multi-task and quickly and effectively transition between projects.
• Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
