Job Description:
Under general supervision this position will provide cartographic and spatial analysis services to the Real Estate Section within the Bureau of Facilities and Lands. This position primarily provides support for the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Grant (Stew Grants) program parcel digitizing project. The position focuses on interpreting and digitizing complex legal descriptions. The position is considered short-term employment. This is a 4-6 month appointment with potential of 20-40 hours per week.
70% Provides GIS and Real Estate services in interpreting and digitizing complex legal descriptions
Consistently and accurately interprets and digitizes complex legal descriptions
Works with Real Estate GIS staff to efficiently manage spatial and tabular data associated with the (Stew Grants) parcels
Maintains and applies DNR digitizing standards for the (Stew Grants) parcel digitizing project
20% Provides additional GIS services for the Real Estate section, including but not limited to:
Cartographic production
Legal land ownership research assistance
Creation and maintenance of DNR land parcel spatial data
GIS and Real Estate services support for additional statewide projects
10% Other work as assigned
Knowledge Required:
On appointment, the applicant must demonstrate: Advanced technical experience working in ESRI Geographic Information Systems (GIS) application.
Solid experience in writing, reading and interpreting deed legal descriptions.
Supplemental skills include the ability to work well with a wide range of clients and a proven ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
