The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in cultural resources, environmental, or other types of professional consulting with knowledge of archaeology, architectural history, interpretative planning, or other closely related fields.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for processing, analyzing, and displaying geospatial data and producing maps for historical and cultural studies. Additionally they will assist with data management and IT support as needed.

Requirements

 

  • Undergraduate/advanced degree with substantial coursework in GIS
  • Experience with geoprocessing in the ArcGIS environment, including experience using spatial/3D analyst extensions
  • Experience managing complex databases and strong organizational skills
  • Understanding of cartographic principles and ability to create easy to understand maps
  • Able to create, maintain, and edit spatial and tabular datasets in ArcGIS 10.X
  • Flexibility in applying GIS to a wide variety of disciplines
  • Good working knowledge of current information technologies including GPS data collection
  • Experience with Microsoft Access/SQL
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work individually and as a team
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work well under pressure
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the office

 

Additional experience valued or preferred:

 

  • Experience with historical data, LiDAR data, georeferencing, and spatial data editing is desirable
  • Knowledge of Python/VBA programming
  • Experience or an interest in technology related to IT support, information management, data management, and databases (Access and SQL Server).
