The Wisconsin State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) is the state’s federally-designated historic preservation office. In partnership with communities, organizations and individuals, the SHPO works to identify, interpret and preserve historic places for the benefit of present and future generations.

Working under the direction of the SHPO’s GIS Coordinator, this Limited Term Employee (LTE) will undertake a special project to digitally map over 400 of Wisconsin’s National Register listed historic districts and complexes in the Office’s Geographic Information System (GIS) using the state parcel map layer. The original paper maps range from hand sketched site plans to municipally generated parcel maps.  The position requires an individual who displays a high attention to detail and who is able to interpret both visual and verbal descriptions of site boundaries. While a basic knowledge of GIS is preferred, it is not required.

The position is scheduled for up to 40 hours a week for up to three months. The position will remain open until it is filled.
