Job Summary:
This vacancy is to fill two positions at the Research Analyst level.
This position is responsible for; developing, organizing, converting, and updating geospatial data related to products and services that are traditionally published by Units within the Office of Land Management. Work is accomplished with the use of various CAD, GIS, and database applications. The work involves: map updating, map data conversion, map checking, monitoring and testing results, database entry, updating documentation, and assisting in developing basic tools and/or reports to automate or streamline CAD and GIS processes. The Research Analyst –GIS, effectively and efficiently supports and/or trains customers in the Office of Land Management, other MnDOT offices or districts, and external private and public customers based on their requests or information needs pertaining to maps, land management documents, data, and software applications. Assigned work may vary between data conversion, map maintenance, map development, research of documents and records, and customer support depending on the Unit’s workload and resource demands.
Education & Experience:
- CAD, GIS, and associated business software.
- Surveying, mapping, and GIS concepts as applied toward right of way, access control, and related property interest concepts and data associated with real estate, highway policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Surveying, GIS, or Engineering;
OR
An Associate’s degree in Geography, Surveying, GIS, or Engineering AND six months of professional work experience in CADD/GIS, Surveying, Mapping or Cartography;
OR
1 year of professional work experience in CADD/GIS, Surveying, Mapping or Cartography.
