Job Description:
The Center for Watershed Science and Education has a full-time, calendar year position to provide outreach education support through (1) products developed from geographical information systems (GIS); (2) managing, querying, and designing reports developed from water quality and geodatabases; and (3) modeling hydrologic systems for practical problem solving. The successful candidate will work in a team environment with outreach educators to develop materials to meet the water information needs of Wisconsin citizens and communities. This position maintains a growing database of private well water quality data (over 93,000 samples and 781,500 analyses), and a public web-based mapping service.
Qualifications:
Required:
- MS degree in an earth science or water resources related field
- Demonstrated competency in two of three: geographical information systems (GIS) use and management, database use and management, hydrologic modeling (surface or groundwater)
- Demonstrated aptitude to gain competency in any one item in which the candidate is not completely proficient
- Ability to apply hydrologic principles, models and data analysis to the development of educational and research materials
- Ability to work in a team environment
Preferred:
- -Demonstrated competency in geographical information systems (GIS) use and management, database use and management, hydrologic modeling (surface or groundwater)
- Experience in web-sharing information
- Proficiency using MODFLOW groundwater modeling code
