Position Summary:
This is a seasonal/limited-term position responsible for assisting with GIS projects across the Public Works Department, as well as the development and maintenance of the City’s enterprise GIS.
Essential Functions:
These functions will comprise approximately 70-100% of your time on an average work day, but may fluctuate as business needs change.
- Collect, correct, and export GPS field data to be used for mapping projects and infrastructure inventory within the Public Works Department.
- Develop and maintain highly accurate GIS data sets.
- Assist IT/GIS Analyst on GIS related projects.
- Responsible for accuracy of data created and maps being produced
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Experience or interest in using hand-held GPS for data collection.
- Fundamentals of GIS and cartography and familiarity with working with geodatabases (design, creation, editing, etc.).
- GIS data conversion and creation, map development, and field data collection.

Education and Experience:
Pursuing or recent graduate of a degree program with focus on GIS. Candidates should have the skills and experience necessary to perform the following tasks: GIS data conversion and creation, map development, and field data collection. Candidates should be familiar with working with geodatabases (design, creation, editing, etc.), ArcPad, and digitizing.
